When viewing the cube after solving the Yellow Top Face, some of the yellow corner pieces can be placed into their correct spots (all colors corresponding to the center pieces) by twisting the top face once or more. Try to place any two yellow corners into their right spot and do the following algorithm.

Creating the Yellow Cross (Top Layer)

Welcome to the fourth step. More than halfway there. I hope you are practicing all the steps that you do know and continue to get the algorithms into muscle memory.

In this step, you have 4 scenarios that result after completing the second layer. You only have to do a new algorithm on 2 of the scenarios. This makes it nice so you do not have to memorize so much.

I created my own "shortcut" from practicing and trying different methods which you will see later on. For now stick to the beginner's method.
Two (technically four) scenarios
-
.
AFTER SOLVING THE MIDDLE LAYER - IF YOU HAVE THE YELLOW CROSS ALREADY MADE - MOVE ON TO THE NEXT STEP.
-
.
IF YOU SEE THESE PATTERNS:
FR , UL , RU , UR , RD , FL
-
.
IF YOU SEE THIS PATTERN:
FR , RU , UL , RD , UR , FL
If at any time after solving these scenarios you do not have a completed Yellow Cross, recognize one of these scenarios on your cube and repeat.
Repeat and/or adjust accordingly
until you have the YELLOW cross!
If you are having any difficulties with this step, watch this video!
Figure out your own tricks along the way!
Watch this video to discover a "shortcut". You memorize only one algorithm with this trick. It seems to work but if it messes you up, move on and stick with the traditional method. If your goal is to be able to do the cube as fast as possible you will have to find out the strategies that best work for you.
